Coralwood School educates nearly 250 students, approximately half of whom have special needs. This includes children who have autism or down syndrome, severe speech/language disabilities, and motor disorders such as cerebral palsy or spina bifida. In most cases, children with special-needs and typically-developing students learn together in inclusion classrooms—a unique model that benefits all children. Proceeds from the annual auction primarily fund teacher professional development and education innovations in the classroom. Here is a link to a video about our remarkable school.
The Coralwood Foundation, Inc. conducts activities like the annual auction to supplement the funding provided by Dekalb County Public Schools. The additional resources provided by the Foundation allows the school to continue to provide the best education possible for our most vulnerable students by supporting special projects, teacher material needs, and school/teacher resource such as professional development opportunities.
